Code
of Practice for Provision of Quality Training (procedure 1.5, part
of)
Educational Standards and Learner Welfare
The following measures will be taken to safeguard the educational interests
and welfare of learners:
• Providing training that is dynamic and innovative in approach
• Ensuring educational material reflects current thinking and models of
best practice
• Motivating staff to achieve the highest standards in service delivery
• Regularly in-servicing staff
• Ensuring that training and assessment occur in accordance with the requirements
of the accredited Training Package
• Maintaining confidentiality at all times
• Encouraging a climate of trust and respect
• Developing positive, supportive relationships with learners based on
open communication and sharing of knowledge and skills
• Using a range of assessment styles and tools to accommodate a range of
abilities and learning styles.
• Adhering to principles of good management, accountability and financial
viability
• Maintaining accurate and secure learners records

Actively supporting the Centre’s Equal Opportunity Policy to
protect individual rights and to prevent harassment and discrimination
• Access to people from specific client groups

Training Environment
One World for Children will:
•
Provide a learning environment that complies with all occupational health & safety,
fire and local government laws and regulations
• Ensure that training premises are of adequate size, and have adequate
heating, cooling, lighting and ventilation
• Ensure that training facilities, equipment and other resource materials
are adequate for and relevant to the Scope of Registration and
are maintained in good order and repair.
Marketing
One World for Children will:
• Market their programs with integrity, accuracy and professionalism
at all times
• Avoid vague, ambiguous statements
• Never make false or misleading comparisons with other providers
or courses
• Ensure that all trainees are given information that is true and correct
at that time
To ensure that marketing activities comply with One World for Children’s
Code of Practice and the relevant AQTF requirements in relation to marketing,
we have developed a procedure titled Marketing and Advertising within
this manual.
Learner Information
One World for Children will provide accurate, relevant and up-to-date
information to learners prior to enrolment. This will include:
• Copy of the Code of Conduct
• Organisation details
• Selection, enrolment and induction/orientation
• Admission procedures and criteria and course fees if applicable
• Course information including content and vocational outcomes
• Certification to be issued upon completion
• Competencies to be achieved
• Assessment procedures
• Arrangements for the Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer
• Arrangements for recognising qualifications or Statements of Attainment
from other providers
• Complaints/Appeal procedure
• Fee refund policy
• Listings of facilities, services and equipment
• Staff names and contact numbers
• Copy of Equal Opportunity Policy
• Welfare and guidance procedures
• Disciplinary procedures
• Staff responsibilities for access and equity
Organisational Structure
One World is a Registered Training Organisation specialising in programs
from the Certificate III in Children’s Services to the Advanced
Diploma of Children’s Services.
Roles within the Training Unit are:
• Managing Directors – Karyn Connors and Lyle Connors
• Director
• Manager/s
• Administration Officer
• Multi Media Officer
• Trainer/s and Assessors
We also operate the Children’s Centre which is a long day care
centre and kindergarten, providing both full-time, part-time and casual/occasional
care places for up to 125 children. The centre operates Monday to Friday
from 6.30am to 6.30pm
Roles within the Children’s Centre are:

Our committed staff carry out various roles and responsibilities
within the centre to ensure that we provide services of
the highest standard.

Employer Information
Managing Director – Lyle Connors
Lyle Connors has had 45 years of work experience in the food industry,
of which 27 years has been in managerial positions.
Of major significance is his experience as Food Manager with Myer Geelong,
from 1966 through to 1985. During this time Lyle was responsible for
the overall operations of the departments which included grocery outlet,
restaurant, butcher, bakery, take-away food and delicatessen.
Lyle's expertise in management and service delivery is reflected in
the smooth day to day operation of the Centre including overseeing
the laundry
service, cleaning, grounds maintenance, security, and attending to
the general service needs of the Centre.
Managing Director - Karyn Connors
Karyn Connors is a qualified early childhood professional with an Associate
Diploma in Social Science (Child Care) and a Certificate IV in Workplace
Training. She has been working in the early childhood field for a period
spanning more than two decades.
Over these years she has been a director of both a local government
child care centre, and a TAFE child care centre.
In addition to this, Karyn has been engaged in consultancy work and other
projects relating to the provision of children and family services. She
has a broad knowledge and valuable experience with all aspects of child
care and business management, including administration and financial
management, human resources and development and quality improvement.
Director – Susan Peters (employee)
Susan has been involved in the early childhood field since 1989. She
has qualifications in both the early childhood and workplace training
industry. Susan’s previous work experience has been within the
community, TAFE, and private sector. Susan participated in the development
of producing the publication "Playing for Keeps" ~ an environmentally
responsible approach to early childhood and is always keen to share innovative
ideas.
Susan is the director of both training and child care at One World and
is available to answer or to assist you with your daily work or queries
at any time.
Manager – Carol Pundij (employee)
Carol began her career in the children’s services industry in 1993.
Since this time Carol has gained qualifications in children’s services,
human resources and workplace training professions.
Carol has worked within the TAFE and private sector, within the childcare
industry, and as a qualified childcare worker within a family grouping
environment when she joined the One World team in 1996.
Carol has been working in the training unit since 1998, where she has
gained extensive knowledge and skill in all aspects of training. At present
Carol Manages the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program; One World’s
online training programs, as well as managing the recruitment and professional
development of One World’s training team.
Manager – Tammy Taylor (employee)
Tammy joined One World Children’s Centre in 1995 after completing
her early childhood qualification. Tammy joined the training team on
a part time basis in 1998 as well as working as a qualified child care
worker in one of our family grouping rooms. 2001 offered Tammy the opportunity
to commence training on a full time basis, where her role was visiting
One World participants state-wide, and training in the Occupational Health
and Safety competencies.
Tammy now manages the training delivery of all learners, ensuring that
One World's quality training programs are maintained at a high level.
Tammy's commitment to maintaining quality, ensures that she is part of
the One World development team in providing positive outcomes for all.
