Staff Handbook

Induction Process(procedure 3.4)

On commencement of employment you will be allocated to work along side a trainer (Inductor). Management is responsible for inducting (or assigning someone to induct) a new staff member into their new position.

The Inductor must accompany the Inductee throughout their work until Management decides that the new employee is ready to carry out the functions of the position on their own.

The Inductor must complete the Induction Forms as per this manual during and at the conclusion of the induction process. When complete, both the Inductor and Inductee sign the bottom of the form to indicate that all items were completed satisfactorily.

Mentor’s role

A mentor (experienced trainer allocated by management) will be, where possible assigned to a new member of the training team. The mentor’s role is to train and role model as per One World’s policies and procedures.

• As a mentor, your role is to introduce the trainer to employers and training participants
• Go through the new team members induction forms, by signing and dating as appropriate.
• Mentors must sign all relevant learner’s training papers eg contracts, training plans, log books, visit books. The new trainer may co-sign but is not to sign anything on own until authorised by a management representative.
• Mentor to communicate with Recruitment Manager regularly about progress of new training member.
• Mentor to seek assistance with Recruitment Manager if any concerns about the progress of the training member.
• Mentor to communicate with Traineeship Manager in relation to giving new trainer authorisation to do training or assessing on their own.

Inductee’s role

• Communicate with your assigned mentor openly and regularly. (The more you ask the more you know.)
• Complete the following induction plan and documentation, by signing and dating when complete.
• Investigate any questions you may have in regards to any aspects of training.
• Communicate with Recruitment Manager or Training Manager at any time.

The amount of training time that will be required before you are able to train on your own, will depend on your skills, knowledge, and prior experience. Please complete, the following checklist.
