Thank you for your enquiry with One World for Children.

The Victorian and Commonwealth Governments have been providing funding for individuals who are up skilling through the Victorian Training Guarantee (subject to eligibility).

You are eligible for a Government Subsidised Place if you fit into the following category.

    You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia.

    • If you are under 20 years of age you will be eligible for funded training.

    • If you are over 20 years of age and don't hold a qualification at an equal or higher level you will be eligible for funding.

A Government Subsidised Place will cover the cost for both tuition and books however a student contribution fee will be required for all Government Funded training

Subject to the above eligibility criteria you have 2 options - traineeship or non-traineeship.

Traineeship (employment only)

Certificate III in Children's Services CHC30708 fees are calculated at $0.53 per nominal enrolled hours. Fees are calculated per calendar year of training so from January 2011 to December 2011 the maximum fee would be $290, with a health care card concession available of $188.

Certificate IV in Children's Services (Outside school hours care) CHC41208 fees are calculated at $0.53 per nominal enrolled hours. Fees are calculated per calendar year of training so from January 2011 to December 2011 the maximum fee would be $375, with a health care card concession available of $188.

Diploma of Children's Services (Early childhood education and care) CHC50908 and Diploma of Children's Services (Outside school hours care) CHC51008 fees are calculated at $0.29 per nominal enrolled hours. Fees are calculated per calendar year of training so from January 2011 to December 2011 the maximum fee would be $375, with a health care card concession available of $188.

A minimum of 13 hours per week of employment is required for all traineeships.

You are entitled to study time of 3 hours per week for fulltime training or pro-rata for part time training (minimum of 1 hour).

The service you are employed at may be eligible for Commonwealth Incentive payments (contact the Australian Apprentice Centre for further details).

Non-traineeship (employment optional but volunteer days apply)

Please note:

In the January of each year of training you will be raised a fee for all re-enrolments for both traineeships and non-traineeships.

Fees are calculated in accordance with the 2009 MINISTERIAL DIRECTIONS ABOUT FEES.

If not eligible for the above funding options:

To complete the same qualification without Government funding (fee for service/self-funded) the cost to you would be $2800 - $4000, with no health care card concession available.

The above information applies only if you are to complete your studies in Victoria.

Entry requirements apply to Diploma level qualifications.
