Educator Induction Program
The important need of inducting new educators into the children's services industry has been clearly endorsed through Quality Area 7 - Leadership and service management: Element 7.1.2 -The induction of educators, co-ordinators and staff members, including relief educators, is comprehensive. This 2 session program assists new educators to gain an understanding of the underpinning principles of the children's services industry.
Session 1:
Educators will be briefed on the industry of children services in relation to the understanding of various service types. Roles and responsibilities of an early childhood educator will be explored, including the importance of legislation and confidentiality as per the National Quality Framework.
Educators enrolled in this program will take time to read and discuss their services philosophy as well as gain an understanding of the importance of service policy.
Session 2: (To take place 2 weeks after session 1)
Session 2 will take place approximately 2 weeks after session 1. The group of new educators will have an opportunity to network with other educators about their first impressions upon working with children in their services. This facilitated session will give educators an opportunity to identify positive experiences as well as any challenges that they may have faced to date. This session will deliver comprehensive training in relation to Workplace Occupational Health and Safety as well as understanding the importance of active supervision.
Enrolees of this program will be able to access a workbook to assist them to prepare for this session.
